Genie: how to ask so the answer actually helps — MelonAds

A guide to Genie, the MelonAds marketing advisor: what she sees, how to ask, voice dictation, and Meta campaign actions that run only after you confirm.

What you need first

A marketing strategy in the app. Without one Genie answers in general terms; with one, the answers fit your business.

A connected Meta account, if you want to ask about campaigns or have them changed.

1. Where to find Genie

Click "Genie" in the menu for the full chat page. Most screens also have a round button in the bottom corner. It opens a small chat window without leaving the screen, and "Go to Genie" there opens the full page.

The round button is hidden on the strategy questionnaire, in the copy and creative studios and in the campaign wizard, so it doesn't get in the way. From there, reach Genie through the menu.

Chatting with Genie costs no credits. It's part of using the app.

2. Start a conversation

Click "Start a new conversation". Genie opens it with a short overview of where things stand. A green line above the button names the strategy she relies on. If there is none, you'll see a suggestion to "Build a marketing strategy" instead.

Above the text box are quick choices such as "How do I start?", "How are my campaigns doing?" and "What should I focus on this week?". Some send a ready-made question; others, like "Leads" or "Landing pages", take you straight to that part of the app.

3. What Genie can see

Genie reads what you have in the app: your strategy, your plan and credits, how many ads, designs and pages you've made, and your leads and sales from the last 30 days.

If a Meta account is connected, Genie also sees your campaigns: spend, results and click-through rate for the last 7 and 30 days, plus the campaign manager's goals and recommendations. The numbers refresh about once an hour, so a change from the last few minutes may not show yet.

What isn't in the app, Genie doesn't know. A price change, a new promotion or a stock problem has to be mentioned in the chat.

4. Ask so the answer helps

A good question says what you want to achieve, what you've tried and what the limit is. Instead of "How do I improve my campaign?", write: "My lead campaign is bringing pricier leads than last month. I can't raise the budget. What should I check first?"

Ask for one step to take, not an overview. For example: "Give me three ad headlines for young mums in Manchester", or "What's the one thing I should change this week?"

When Genie suggests another part of the app, a button under the answer takes you straight there. For a new topic, start a new conversation: in a long one, Genie works mostly from the latest messages.

5. Ask to pause a campaign or change a budget

You can ask Genie to pause a campaign, resume it or change its daily budget. Genie doesn't act alone: she prepares a card with the campaign name and the change, marked "Nothing changes in Meta until you confirm." Click "Confirm" or "Not now".

Budget raises go in steps: up to 20% at a time, or one cost per lead, whichever is larger. Asked for more? Genie offers the allowed step instead, so Meta's learning isn't reset. You can raise again once results hold.

The card expires after a short while. If the campaign changed in Ads Manager in the meantime, confirming changes nothing. Either way, just ask Genie again.

6. Talk instead of typing

Next to the send button is a microphone button. Click it, speak, and click again to stop. The text lands in the box, where you can fix it before sending. Dictation costs no credits.

The first time, your browser asks for microphone access. If you refused by mistake, allow it in the browser's site settings.

7. Genie in your strategy

In the strategy questionnaire, on the "How would you like to answer?" screen, choose "Chat with Genie" (you type and Genie fills in the form) or "Talk with Genie" (a voice call: Genie asks, you answer out loud). Saving the chat answers to your strategy costs 3 credits, and only if something was written.

The voice call uses no credits. Without a plan you get one free call on the short questionnaire, up to 30 minutes in total. From the Starter plan up, you can talk with Genie on both the short and the detailed questionnaire, with no cap on the number of calls.

Tips

Finish your strategy before asking Genie for ad ideas. The audience, pains and offer you wrote there are what turn a generic answer into one that fits your business.

Give numbers when you have them: budget, price, how many leads came in and how many closed.

If the answer is too general, write "Be more specific to my business" or "Give me an example".

On a phone, dictation is fastest. Say the question the way you'd say it to an advisor, then tidy it up before sending.

Common mistakes

Asking a one-word question like "Budget?". Genie has to guess what you meant. One sentence with your goal and situation saves three messages.

Expecting Genie to produce a finished ad, image or landing page inside the chat. Genie gives direction and sample text, then points you to the studio or landing pages, where the real thing is made and saved.

Confirming a card without reading it. Check the campaign name and the amount before you click "Confirm".

Does chatting with Genie cost credits?

Chatting with Genie costs no credits. It's part of using the app.

Can Genie change a campaign without me knowing?

Not from the chat. Every change appears as a card, and nothing is sent to Meta until you click "Confirm". From the chat Genie can only pause, resume and change a daily budget.

What can't Genie do?

Genie doesn't build new campaigns, doesn't change audiences or ads, and can't see systems outside MelonAds and your connected Meta account. For a complex question that needs a human eye, book a consultation with the team.

Does Genie answer in Hebrew?

Genie answers in your account's language. Change the interface language on your profile page.
