Building your marketing strategy — MelonAds

How to build a marketing strategy in MelonAds: short or detailed questionnaire, talking to Genie by voice or chat, and what the strategy report and avatar give you.

What you need first

Your business website, if you have one. In the short questionnaire the app reads it and fills in details from it.

Your main product or service and its price, and who buys it today.

Any numbers you know for sure: income goal, cost per lead, monthly ad spend. Anything you don't know can stay empty.

1. Open a new strategy

Press "Strategy" in the menu. You'll land on "My strategies", which lists each strategy with its status: draft, submitted, or report ready. Press "New strategy".

On your first visit a short video shows the whole journey. Watch it or skip it. If you're an agency or freelancer, the app first asks which client the strategy is for, so everything made from it is filed under that client.

2. Choose: short or detailed questionnaire

"The short questionnaire": a few questions and your website, about 5 minutes. AI fills in the rest of the strategy from your answers and your site, and every detail it filled in is marked so you can check it. The auto-complete costs credits, and the price is on the card.

"The detailed questionnaire": one question per screen, about 25 minutes. It's the most accurate, because the report and ads are built only from what you said. Both routes end in the same report.

3. Choose how to answer: form, chat or voice

After you choose, "How would you like to answer?" opens. "The form": fill it in yourself, one question per screen. "Talk with Genie": Genie asks and you answer out loud, no typing. "Chat with Genie" (detailed questionnaire): type to Genie in a normal chat and your answers go into the form. You can switch at any time, and whatever you answered stays saved.

Voice: the short questionnaire includes one free conversation. After that, and for the detailed questionnaire, voice is part of a monthly plan, and the card shows which plan. The first time, you'll be asked to agree to the conversation terms and allow microphone access.

Chat: the conversation itself is free. At the end you see what Genie understood, tick what to keep, and saving it costs credits. The price shows before you press. You can also reach Genie from the "Rather talk it through? Genie" link under the two questionnaires.

4. Short questionnaire: check what AI filled in

Answer the questions, enter your website (or press "I don't have a website") and press "Build my strategy". Reading your site is free. You can add a check of the site against your customer: which sentences to change, and whether your logo and images suit ads. That check costs extra credits.

At the end, "Your strategy is ready" opens. Each detail is marked by its source: "AI estimate", "From your website" or "Not asked". Go through them, press "Right" or "Edit", and only then "Build my strategy report". Every fix here improves the report.

5. Detailed questionnaire: one question at a time

The questions come in seven parts: your business, products and services, audience, marketing strategy, your story, budget and assets, and the avatar. Anything marked "Optional" can be skipped. The "All questions" button shows what you've answered and what's missing, and lets you jump to any question.

Everything you type is saved as you go, so you can close it and come back. In the last part the app builds the avatar, your ideal customer, from all your answers. The first one is free. On the last question, press "Submit and build my report".

6. Read your strategy report

Building the report costs credits, and the price is on the button. The report separates what's known from what's assumed: "What we know for sure" with its source, "Action plan, ordered by your goal", a budget worked out from your numbers, "What we know about the audience" with the avatar, positioning, messages and possible headlines, "Answering objections", "Assumptions to test" and "Missing information".

The avatar is built by AI from your answers. Treat it as a hypothesis to test with real customers, not a fact. You can edit it, and the copy and creative are drawn from it.

At the top of the report there's "Download PDF". Further down are an "Audio summary" (paid in credits) and competitor research. At the end, "Yes, I want to write copy that converts" takes you to writing your ads.

Tips

If you have time for the detailed questionnaire, it's worth it. Your ads get written in your own words, not from estimates.

Went short? Before building the report, go through every detail marked "AI estimate". Two minutes of fixes saves you a report built on guesses.

On a phone it's easier to talk than to type. The voice conversation with Genie is made for that.

Answer in your customers' words. The report builds its messages from your wording, and phrases like "professional, quality service" don't give it much to work with.

Business changed? Open the strategy, update your answers and rebuild the report.

Common mistakes

Making up numbers. If you don't know your cost per lead or conversion rate, leave it empty. The report will flag it as information to collect, instead of building a budget on a wrong number.

Confirming all the AI estimates in one click without reading them. They were written from your answers, but only you know whether they're right.

Treating the avatar as fact. It's a hypothesis. Check it against real customers and update it if needed.

How much does a strategy cost?

Filling in the detailed questionnaire yourself is free. Building the report costs credits, as do the short questionnaire's auto-complete and saving a chat with Genie. Each one shows its price on the button before you press.

I started with the short questionnaire. Can I switch to the detailed one?

Yes. On the summary screen there's "To the full questionnaire", where you can see and edit every field, and "Make it a detailed strategy". The AI estimates stay marked until you confirm them.

Is the voice conversation with Genie recorded?

No. The app asks for microphone access when you start, and your answers are saved into the form as you talk. You can stop and pick it up another time.

Can I build more than one strategy?

Yes. Each one appears under "My strategies". That's useful for another product, a different audience, or each client if you're an agency.

I'm an agency. Can my client fill in the questionnaire themselves?

Yes. In the detailed questionnaire, on an agency account, the "Send to client" button creates a link they can fill in on their own.
